Our multi-day 4WD hires range from 2 to 5 or more days, (call our office to enquire about extended hires longer than 5 days). Hire one of our unique 4wd pink or blue automatic Toyota Prados, priced from 2 to 6 people. Tailor make your 4wd hire package with camping (up to 5 people only) or accommodation (up to 6 people) to suit your holiday.

Undertake your 4WD safety briefing before departure to learn all you need to know about driving a 4WD on sand – no prior 4WD experience required. Discover your personalised itinerary, that coincides with the low tides on the Eastern beach. You will be able to explore a variety of sites, with plenty of time to relax and take in the scenery!

All Fraser Dingo 4WD hire includes:

  • Automatic 4WD vehicle hire (Toyota Prado)
  • Personalised itinerary and safety briefing
  • Standard insurance and CTP with $4000 excess (age limits apply)
  • Option to take out NIL excess from approx. $20 per day (ask us how)

Additional Costs:

  • Vehicle access permit – it is mandatory to have a vehicle permit to drive in a Queensland National Park, you must book this yourself, we will send you a link with our vehicle rego for you to book this the day before departure.
  • Departure and Return vehicle barge transfers –  We can book your barge for you from $280 + the $10 per person levy. 
  • Fuel – Customers must refill to a full tank of unleaded fuel on return.
  • Cleaning – Cleaning of the 4WD is not included in the price. Add our Dingo Clean at checkout from $60 or DIY and clean at the carwash from $20.

2 Day 4WD Hire – From $480 + Local Charges

This is a 2 day, 1 night self-drive 4WD experience to Fraser Island. Priced for 2 people, add additional people & children over 4 years ($60 per person) up to 6 max at checkout. 2 Days allows enough time to see the unique locations Fraser Island has to offer. With a personalised itinerary that coincides with the low tides on 75 Mile Beach (Fraser’s Eastern Beach), you can safely drive along to see the Maheno Shipwreck and the Coloured Sands (Pinnacles), stopping at the famous Eli Creek. On a 2 day hire, you can go as far north as Cathedrals on the Eastern Beach. Inland, be mesmerised by Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby, be amazed by the ancient ferns and rainforest at Central Station and take a magical walk to Basin Lake, with still plenty of time to get to the 5pm barge! (earlier barge options are also available) 180km limit applies to a 2 day hire. 3 Day 4WD Hire – From $660 + Local Charges

This is a 3 day 2 night self-drive 4WD experience to Fraser Island. Priced for 2 people, add additional people & children over 4 years ($90 per person) up to 6 max at checkout. Our 3 Day itinerary allows enough time to travel to Indian Head and Champagne Pools plus all the unique locations Fraser Island has to offer. With a personalised itinerary that coincides with the low tides on 75 Mile Beach (Fraser’s Eastern Beach), you can safely drive along to see the Maheno Shipwreck and the Coloured Sands (Pinnacles), stopping at the famous Eli Creek for a cool refreshing swim, then travel as far north on 75 mile beach as Indian Head. Inland, be mesmerised by Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby, be amazed by the ancient ferns and rainforest at Central Station and take a magical walk to Basin Lake, with still plenty of time to get to the 5pm barge! Our 4 Day itinerary allows enough time to travel to Indian Head, Champagne Pools and take a tour of the Southern Lakes Scenic Drive, plus all the unique locations Fraser Island has to offer. With a personalised itinerary that coincides with the low tides on 75 Mile Beach (Fraser’s Eastern Beach). By following this itinerary you can safely drive along the Eastern Beach to see the Maheno Shipwreck and the Coloured Sands (Pinnacles), stopping at the famous Eli Creek for a cool refreshing swim or hire a boogie board from us to float down the meandering creek. Then travel as far north on 75 mile beach as Indian Head. Inland, be mesmerised by Lake Wabby, Lake McKenzie, Lake Birrabeen, magical Basin Lake and more. Be amazed by the ancient ferns and rainforest at Central Station, on 4 days you really get to wind down and relax! Plenty of barge times available for return on day 4: 10:30am, 2:30pm or 5:00pm.

Booking Information

  • Fraser Dingo organises the booking of all National Park permits and barge transfers.
  • Online bookings are only available 24 hours before departure, bookings less than 24 hours can be made via phone or walk-ins.
  • All 4WD hire bookings are subject to the availability of safety briefing time slot, barge and vehicle. For this reason, all bookings are pending until these variables have been confirmed.
  • All confirmed bookings are subject to a minimum $100 non-refundable deposit, regardless of reason for cancellation, the deposit allows date changes within a 12 month period, but is not refundable.
  • All cancellations made less that 1 week prior to departure in Off Peak Season incur full fees.
  • All cancelations made less than 2 weeks prior to departure Peak Season incur full fees.

Things to note

  • All hirers must be 25 years and over to hire a vehicle with us.
  • Drivers must be over 23 years, with an open licence (if you are 23 years old and with a hirer that’s 25 or older you can still drive, additional excess applies).
  • We do not hire to groups where all participants are under 23 years. Please see our Tagalong Tour page if you are under 23 years of age and wish to drive on Fraser Island, legal driving age is 21 years.
  • We require a credit card bond on all 4WD hires to be authorised when you hire our vehicle and canceled up to 48hrs after the vehicle is returned in hired condition.
    • Bond $2000 (all adults 25 and over) – excess $4000
    • Bond $2000 (for groups with adults under 25 years, regardless of driver age) – excess $6000
